Functional Nutrition for Gut Health

Functional nutrition for gut health looks at why digestion feels off, not just how to quiet the symptoms. Denise Christenson, CFNC, helps you connect what you eat, how you eat and how you live with how your gut feels, then builds a food-first plan around you.

The root-cause approach

How Functional Nutrition Looks at Gut Health

Your gut does much more than digest food. It works closely with your immune system, your energy and even your mood, which is why digestive trouble can show up as feeling tired, foggy or simply "off."

Rather than handing you a one-size-fits-all diet, functional nutrition looks at the whole picture: which foods agree with you, your eating pace and meal timing, stress, sleep, and your health history. Small, targeted changes often make a real difference.

Signs It May Be Worth Exploring

  • Bloating or fullness after meals
  • Irregular bowel habits
  • Heartburn or discomfort after certain foods
  • Gas or cramping that comes and goes
  • Feeling tired or heavy after eating
  • Symptoms that get worse with stress

Questions

Gut Health FAQ

Can functional nutrition help with bloating?

Many people find that changes to what, when and how they eat ease bloating. Denise helps you find your personal patterns and build a plan around them. She does not diagnose digestive conditions, so persistent or severe symptoms should also be checked by your doctor.

Will I have to cut out lots of foods?

Not necessarily. Any change is based on your own patterns. If a short elimination is helpful, it is structured, temporary and followed by reintroducing foods so your diet stays varied.

Should I take a probiotic?

It depends on you. Some people benefit and others do not. Denise can talk through options with you, and anyone taking medications or managing a health condition should check with their doctor before starting supplements.
